Catapult Use in Sevenoaks

I would like to make you aware of a growing trend of catapult use. On the afternoon of Monday 7 July on Seal Hollow Road, Sevenoaks, two boys and one girl were seen using a catapult to target wildlife. The group was last seen heading towards Greatness Park, Sevenoaks.

This is part of a growing trend across Kent where young people are using catapults to harm wild birds and animals, often filming and sharing the acts online. This behaviour is not only cruel but may be criminal under several wildlife and animal protection laws.

Parents – Please Take Note

As the summer holidays approach, please speak with your children about the dangers and legal consequences of using catapults. Using one to cause harm or damage can lead to  a criminal prosecution.

Crime Prevention Advice

Do not allow children to carry catapults in public.

Explain that harming animals or damaging property is a criminal offence.

To dispose of a catapult safely, contact your local beat officer via www.kent.police.uk.
